| Event | Monarch PEAK Migration |
| Date of Sighting | 10/13/01 |
| Comments | Yesterday afternoon (10/13/01) I followed the Rio Grande River in South Texas in search of the monarch migration. Although I saw a few monarchs in Roma in Starr County, I moved upriver to Falcon State Park. At Falcon Lake, I found a steady stream of migrating monarchs passing overhead in large numbers, sometimes as many as 100 per minute. At dusk, I walked out into the brush and discovered hundreds of monarchs roosting in retama (paloverde) trees along the shore of the lake. |
