| Event | Monarch PEAK Migration |
| Date of Sighting | 09/14/01 |
| Comments | Friday evening, September 14, approximately 6:30 PM, I saw about 30+ Monarchs flying in and landing in trees around our house. I have never seen this before...they were not stopping to feed on any flowers (I have butterfly bushes), just landing in the trees.
We were outside lighting candles as part of the candlelight vigil in remembrance of the tragedy in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania and could not believe all the butterflys in the sky flying onto the trees in our yard. We got the binoculars and they were, indeed, Monarchs. I have never seen so many at once before and wonder if this is part of their regular route. Contributed to Monarch Watch. |
