| Comments | My husband and I have 5 acres of woods where our house was built. We had lived here 11 years and never have seen what we found in our woods 4 days ago (9/3/01). My husband was mowing the paths in our woods and all of a sudden hundreds of monarch butterflies started flying everywhere and they are nesting in trees. I did look a few things up on the internet and found that Iowa is in the path of migrating monarchs to Mexico. Could that be where they are going? If so, why are they in our trees and not our neighbors? There seems to be about 2 acres where they are gathering to the east of our house--but not to the north, south or west. Is that odd?
