The Host: Eugen Weber
Praised worldwide for his original scholarship, elegant writing, and natural teaching flair, Eugen Weber, Palevsky Professor of History at the University of California at Los Angeles, brings to The Western Tradition series an insightful and passionate interpretation of history.
He is the author of A Modern History of Europe (W.W. Norton, 1971) and the internationally acclaimed Peasants into Frenchmen (Stanford University Press, 1976) and the editor of The Western Tradition, Third Edition (D.C. Heath, 1972). The recipient of numerous honors and fellowships, Professor Weber holds degrees from Cambridge University and has taught Western civilization for more than 30 years.
The Western Tradition video series and telecourse has enabled him to reach far beyond his own campus to a diverse and inquisitive audience in homes and classrooms throughout the country.
