Upcoming Presidential Election
This year's presidential election, scheduled for Tuesday November 4, is
considered crucial for many reasons, including the current economic crisis, the
war in Iraq, and the fact that the United States is now bound to have either its
first African American president or female vice president.

Space Craftings
A couple of spacecraft events are scheduled for October. NASA's MESSENGER will
be making another flyby of Mercury October 6, with the aim of becoming the first
spacecraft to orbit Mercury. Meanwhile, India's first lunar orbiter,
Chandrayaan-1, is getting ready for a launch tentatively scheduled for the
second half of this month. A final spacewalking mission of the Space Shuttle
Atlantis to service the Hubble Telescope, originally planned for October, has
been postponed until 2009.
